He served for 20 years as a senior investigator for the State Office of Professional Discipline, getting his security roots as a corporate security supervisor for a multi-state retail business. His firm specializes in criminal and civil litigation, fire cause and origin, insurance, surveillance, and background investigations.

Matthew Spaier, 1st Vice President

Matthew Spaier founded Satellite investigations in 2005 and is the president. He has over 15 years experience in investigations and specializes in plaintiff personal injury cases. Satellite Investigations is a boutique investigation company that services personal injury attorneys. Their staff includes bilingual Spanish investigators and retired NYPD Accident Investigation Squad Detectives.

Julie O’Brien, 2nd Vice President

Julie O’Brien is a Sr. Project Manager/Forensic Investigator with the Port Authority of NY/NJ, Office of Inspector General, and is a Certified Inspector General Investigator (CIGI) as well as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

From his many years of major case investigations during his time in law enforcement to the years of work in the private sector of investigations, Mark Garner of MAG Private Investigations has been recognized as a leader in many fields of investigations during his career.

The CMP Group is an internationally recognized investigative and security firm with clients and corporations from around the world. Thomas Ruskin is a highly decorated former New York City Police Detective Investigator.

Lenny Zapka is the Vice President, C.O.O of Alert Security. He has over 30 years of law enforcement, former New York City Police Department, and Retired City of Newburgh Detective. He manages and oversees the uniformed security and private investigators of his company. His firm specializes in plaintiff personal injury cases, as well as criminal defense for many law firms, and residency issues for School Districts throughout the Hudson Valley.

Nick Himonidis, Region 1

With more than 30 years of professional experience in private investigations, computer forensics and law, Mr. Himonidis has participated in, conducted, and supervised thousands of investigations, computer forensic engagements, e-discovery projects, and cryptocurrency and blockchain forensic matters. He has managed the investigative and e-discovery phases of complex, high-net-worth matrimonial cases; the investigation of financial fraud, including civil RICO claims, insurance fraud, fraudulent claims against the U.S. government, and embezzlement; and numerous forms of cybercrime and “traditional” crime through digital forensics. Mr. Himonidis has written and lectured extensively on e-discovery, digital evidence, cryptocurrency and blockchain forensics, financial investigation, and legal and ethical issues related to expert witnesses. He is court-qualified as an expert witness in computer forensics and the authentication of digital evidence and has acted as a court-appointed computer forensic and cryptocurrency expert. He is a licensed attorney, a licensed private investigator, a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified Computer Forensic Specialist, and a Certified Cryptocurrency Forensic Investigator.

ALDONYS Investigator of the Year 2008, Dennis Lyons is experienced in civil, accident, insurance, personal injury, general and trial preparation investigations. He is also a licensed process server.

Leigh F. Hunt, Region 5

Leigh F. Hunt has been a New York State Department of State licensed private investigator since 1994. He is a retired major in the New York State Police and holds a master’s degree in criminal justice. He previously served as chief of police in Syracuse, N.Y. He can be reached at (315) 263-5044. Douglas M. Amann, Region 5

Formed in 1994 by former FBI Agents, AMRIC is headquartered in East Syracuse and provides services throughout upstate NY and central Florida to include a wide variety of investigative and security specialties to the legal community, corporations, government and insurance industry. Mr. Amann has over 25 years combined experience in field investigations, training and case management. He currently oversees the daily operations of the organization.

Richard C. Ingraham, Region 6

A New York State-licensed private investigator since 1979, Richard Ingraham served 14 years with the New York State Department of Corrections as a law enforcement officer. In his private practice, based in Rochester, N.Y., he specializes in insurance fraud, missing persons, background investigations, and surveillance.

Ronald Coleman, Region 7

Ronald Coleman is the founder of Empire Protective Services (EPS). He is a New York State Licensed Private Investigator and Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE). In addition, Mr Coleman has over twenty five years work experience in the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision in the position of Correctional Officer & Internal Affairs Investigator in the Departments Office of Special Investigations (OSI). Mr Coleman specializes in litigation investigation and support services, fraud examinations, and background research of individuals and businesses.

Jeffrey Rinaldo, Region 7

Jeffrey Rinaldo is the founder and president of Buffalo Protection & Investigation, Inc., a security and private investigation firm in WNY. He holds a BA from Canisius College with studies in Sociology and Criminal Justice and has over 18 years of experience in security and investigations. Jeff is also currently a Captain with the Buffalo Police Department.

Scott Schuster, At Large - North

Scott is the President of Servico located in Albany, NY. Scott’s business focuses on strategic consulting, including business plan and sales strategy development. It focuses on advising new businesses on the formation of corporations and business structures, drafting private policies and structuring commercial transactions. Servico also offers private investigation services.

Kevin Cassidy, At Large - South

Kevin Cassidy is a Professor in the Security, Fire & Emergency Management Department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Kevin is also a licensed Private Investigator in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. Prior to that Kevin was Director of Public Safety and Risk Management for John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and Vice President, Global Security for Thomson Reuters. He was responsible for the security and safety of one of the largest information and financial news service providers throughout the world. His extensive knowledge of security, safety and business continuity allowed him to interface with building owners and facility managers worldwide.

Kevin has an MA and BA in Criminal Justice Administration from John Jay College. He has written several articles on security, business continuity and fire safety as well as a book entitled Loss Prevention and Fire Safety. Kevin lectures regularly on security and business continuity for various professional organizations.
